THE GLIDER science fair experiment on Air and its properties

November 21st, 2006

Materials required: - paper, a pin or a paper clip or a thorn and scissors.
Fold the paper as shown in the figure. Draw dotted curves and cut along these lines. Bend the back end little to one side. Join the front part using a pin or thorn or a paper clip. Hold it at the back fold and shoot it in the air. See how it travels in the air. Try to throw it from a great height. This is called “The Glider”. You can play with this also.

Why does it float? The sharp front tears the sky and flies up. But the flat portion cannot come down immediately. It floats in the air. The glider goes a little distance and descends. Before the discovery of aero plane man tried to fly with very broad artificial wings and jump from a great height.
